National Legal Services Day observed across Nagaland

Kohima: The Nagaland State Legal Services Authority (NSLSA) under the aegis of the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) observed National Legal Services Day on 9th November as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav Pan India Awareness and Legal Services Week.

Kiphire DLSA observed National Legal Services Day on 9th November 2021 at Government High School, Kiphire.  Retainer Lawyer, DLSA Kiphire, Bendangwati Sangtam, spoke on the Importance and Functions of Legal Services. Senior Principal, GHS Kiphire, YP Singh, encouraged the participants to be active in the activities in order to acquire better legal knowledge and also acknowledged all the LLC teacher-in-charges as well as to LLC members for their positive response. Altogether 75 persons from five Legal Literacy Club schools, Agape High School, Saramati High School, El-Beth High School, GHS Kiphire, GHS Yangphi and teaching staff participated.

Dimapur DLSA conducted Mini Legal Camp by setting up Legal Camp at Deputy Commissioners Complex, Dimapur. Secretary Dimapur DLSA & CJMSeyielenuo Mezhii, NJS, highlighted the importance of the Legal Services Act and how Legal Services came into existence. The camp was opened for the general public and during the camp, free legal counselling, free affidavit and free drafting of application of any kind were provided in which around 37 beneficiaries avail free services from the said camp.

Longleng DLSA organised a Mini Legal Services camp in observance of National Legal Services Day at Court Complex. During the inaugural session, Secretary LDLSA highlighted on the different schemes available under Legal Services Authority, later Project Asst. Urged the participants to avail the services of mini legal services camp and also to visit the frontal office for any grievances and screen the video clips act played by the PA and PLs of the LDLSA on RTE Act, Food Security Act , Pension Schemes under Social welfare Department and Lok Adalat. The State Bank of India also participated to sensitise the attendees on the various schemes like PMSPY, PMJJPY, APY, NPS and Zero Account. Free affidavits were also made available to the beneficiaries wherein 33 participants were benefited.

Phek DLSA observed National Legal Services Day by organising a Legal awareness program at the Chozuba sub-division. In the programme, ADC, Chozuba, Theodore Yanthan delivered a short speech. Resource persons Samuel Ritse PP, Phek briefed on the topics POCSO Act 2012, and RTE 2009, Keneinuo Swuro PA, Phek shared on the  Social Welfare Schemes &  Lok Adalat. Cheliam Khiamniungan Secy, PDLSA spoke on the function of the Legal Services and National Food Security Act 2013.The Program was chaired by PLV, Phek, Kevizenuo Lohe. Altogether, 96 representatives from 16 villages and 1 town attended the program.

Tuensang DLSA organized a seminar on Anti-Ragging and Sexual Harassment-Prevention Prohibition and Redressal jointly organised by IQAC, Anti-Ragging and Internal Committee of Sao Chang College in collaboration with Tuensang District Legal Services Authority venue at Multipurpose hall. Advocate, TDLSA, Soteth Anar spoke on the topic Anti-Ragging and Antimangyang Chang Retainer Lawyer, TDLSA spoke on the topic sexual Harassment-Prevention Prohibition and Redressal. Kumdilong Kessen Judicial magistrate first class Tuensang cum secretary TDLSA share about the court procedure. The vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Santosh Kumar Singh coordinator IQAC. All together 300 beneficiaries attended the programme.

Wokha DLSA observed Legal Services Day cum Mini Camp at Chukitong Range Covering 6 Villages. Khrievono Seletsu delivered the keynote address, EAC Chukitong, Echungbemo Erui, delivered Inaugural address, Highlights of WDLSA  activities and Mini Camp activities by Adv. Meribemo A Lotha & Adv. Shanchobeni P Lotha. Programme Moderator was Adv. Renbonthung Tsanglao. During the Camp, Legal Help Desk Was Opened for the General public Where Free Legal  Counselling, Legal Draftings, Applications free Pamphlets Were provided by Adv.Gracy Ezung and other Panel Lawyers, Free registration To undergo Vocational Training by DDU-GKY Under the Ministry of Rural Development, Free medical Checkups and medicines, Free Blood Group Testing and HIV aids Testing By NSACS.

Mokokchung DLSA conducted a drawing competition on account of Legal Services Day under the aegis of NALSA and NSLSA. The competition was held at Children’s Home and Observation Home, Mokokchung under the theme ‘The World we live in’. Altogether 12 of them participated. Out of which 3 of them were awarded as First, Second and third respectively. Winners were awarded gift hampers and certificates

Zunheboto DLSA , on the account and in observance of Legal Services Day organised a cleanliness drive at District Court Complex, Zunheboto along with the court staff, prosecution staff and PI staff. 23 members participated in the programme.
