Imphal: Naorem Lokendra Singh, Professor and Head, Department of History, Manipur University has been appointed as the new Vice-Chancellor of Manipur University on Thursday.
The President of India in his capacity as the Visitor of Manipur University has been pleased to appoint Prof. Naorem Lokendra Singh, Professor & Head, Department of History, Manipur University as the Vice-Chancellor of Manipur University, Imphal as per Statue 2 (1) of the Manipur University Act 2005 for a term of five years from the date of which he enters upon his office, or until he attains the age of seventy years, which is earlier, said a statement by Vijay Kumar, Under Secretary, Ministry of Education, Department of Higher Secondary on Thursday.
The terms and conditions of the services of Prof Lokendra as the Vice-Chancellor of the Manipur University will be those as set forth in the Act, Statutes and Ordinances of the University, the statement added.
Interestingly, the Ministry of Education, Department of Higher Education had already appointed Prof T Tirupati Rao, former vice-chancellor of Osmania University, as the new Chancellor of Manipur University in March this year only.
