Nagaland Police seize drugs worth Rs.5.86 lakh

Kohima: The Nagaland police has recovered 29,331 capsules containing psychotropic drugs worth approximately Rs. 5.86 lakh, official sources said on Saturday.

The haul was made by the Special Operation Team of Zunheboto District Police by conducting raids based on a specific input regarding the sale and distribution of psychotropic drugs.

The capsules were seized from a resident of New Colony of Zunheboto Town. Accordingly. A case under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered against the accused, for further investigation.

In a separate case based on a complaint that extortionists had sstolen the keys of a JCB engaged in earth cutting work, a case was registered under Changtongya Police Station under Mokokchung district.

Mokokchung Police immediately launched an operation, and with the assistance of Dimapur Police, arrested two persons including the self styled Tatar (underground designation) of Ao Region NSCN (Nikki) and one SS Leacy (underground designation), also affiliated to NSCN (Nikki). A .32 pistol along with seven live rounds were also seized from them.
