Imphal: The Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee Sunday announced that it would lodge a complaint against the Chief Electoral Officer, PK Jha, to the Election Commission of India (ECI) on the alleged violation of the model of code of conduct (MCC) by the ruling BJP government in the state.
Speaking to media persons at Congress Bhavan, MPCC president Keisham Meghachandra explained that his party already has submitted memorandums to the CEO on the alleged violation of MCC by the ruling government. Despite submitting so many complaints to the CEO he hasn’t taken up any effective measures and action against the ruling government, he charged.
The Congress leader also alleged that Chief Minister N Biren Singh by misusing his ‘executive power’ is distributing money to the public at his official residence in total disregard of the code of conduct, which is very unfortunate.
Congress’ Inner Manipur Parliamentary constituency candidate Dr Angomcha Bimol Akoijam also urged the ruling BJP government to maintain a standard of politics while criticising its manifesto, saying that its ‘reconciliation’ on the violence is all about bringing peace in the state in consultation with all the stakeholders.
