Imphal: Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai visited the field formations and forward company operating bases of Assam Rifles along the Indo-Myanmar Border at Moreh and Permanent Vehicle Check Post at Khudengthabi, Tengnoupal district on Jan 9 and 10.
During the visit, the Minister was briefed in detail by the various Commanders on the ground about the prevailing security situation and operational preparedness. The Minister also reviewed the ongoing construction work of the border fence at the Indo-Myanmar Border.
The Minister expressed his satisfaction with the security measures and operational preparedness of the Assam Rifles.
The Union MoS for Home said that the Assam Rifles during its glorious history has contributed significantly to the maintenance of peace and harmony in the insurgency-affected areas of the North East and has performed exemplary work in preventing cross-border smuggling and drug trafficking.
The Minister interacted with the Assam Rifles troops deployed along the Indo-Myanmar border. He appreciated the untiring efforts of the troops in difficult and inhospitable conditions and commended them for carrying out people-friendly operations.
The Minister also said that all ranks of Assam Rifles have to face many difficulties for the security of the country, therefore their welfare is paramount for the Government.
