Imphal: In a concerted effort to give awareness to the public about the harmful effects of substance abuse, the District Administration and District Social Welfare Office Thoubal jointly launched a mobile vehicle at the DC Office Complex Thoubal on Tuesday.
Launching the mobile vehicle, Deputy Commissioner Thoubal, A.Subhash said Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan is an ambitious programme launched by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment to make India a drug free nation.
He appealed to the people of the district to take part in such an awareness programme and spread the message to make Thoubal a drug free district. He said that the mobile vehicle will go to every nook and corner of the district spreading messages about the menace of drug.
In another programme on Tuesday as part of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan campaign, an awareness programme was held at Brilliant Academy, Thoubal. The programme was organised by District Administration in collaboration with the District Social Welfare office and Zonal Education office Thoubal.
At the programme, Resource persons spoke about substance abuse and de-addiction. Around 130 students participated in the programme.
