Gangtok: Arun Upreti, who resigned as Food & Civil Supplies Minister on August 22, filed his nomination for Sikkim Legislative Assembly Speaker on Sunday.
According to the bulletin issued by the SLA Secretary, Dr Gopal Dahal, ‘ election to the post of Speaker Sikkim Legislative Assembly, shall be held on 22nd August, as per the Rule 7 of the procedure and conduct of business, at Sikkim Legislative Assembly.
This has been necessitated due to the resignation of Speaker LB Das on the 18th followed by Arun Upreti.
