Imphal: With the objective to start agricultural activities, Health & IPR Minister Dr. Sapam Ranjan Singh has visited the foothills of Konthoujam Assembly Constituency and inspected cultivable sites of the area.
It may be mentioned that due to the present crisis in the state, agricultural activities are at a halt in the foothills.
During his visit, the Minister was accompanied by officers and personnel of the Border Security Force, Assam Rifles, Gorkha Rifles and state armed forces. Kangmong Meisnam, Langoljam Loukon, Hegrujam Loukon, Keithelmanbi Moidangpok Loukon etc. are among those sites visited by the Minister Monday.
Minister also advised the security personnel stationed in the area to be ready to assist and protect the farmers during their agricultural activities.
He also added that measures have also been taken up to provide irrigation to the paddy fields by constructing check dams and storing water from the small streams from the hills.
