Minister Rajen announces fish prices for the Fish Fair 2021

This year’s fish festival will be organised at Mapal Kangjeibung on the western side of Johnstone Higher Secondary School on 5th November 2021.

Imphal: Manipur’s Fishery Minister S. Rajen Singh has announced the prices of fish to be available during the Fish Fair-cum-Fish Crop Competition, 2021. This year’s fish festival will be organised at Mapal Kangjeibung on the western side of Johnstone Higher Secondary School on 5th November 2021.

During a press interaction held at his office, Rajen said the fair is being organised as a part of the Ningol Chakouba festival. 

The prices of the fish have also been fixed. 

Pengba and Khabak below 300g weight will be available at Rs. 450/kg, 300kg above at Rs, 650/kg, Ngaton 470/kg, Catla (below 1kg) at Rs. 210/kg, Rs 270/kg (2kg and above), Rs 350/kg (5 kg and above), Rohu at Rs. 210 (below 1kg), Rs 280/kg (1kg and above), Rs.350 (2kg and above), Common Carp at Rs. 200/kg (below 1 kg), Rs. 250 (1kg & above), Rs. 280 (2kg & above), Grass carp at Rs. 210 (below 2kg), Rs. 280/kg (2kg and above), Rs. 310/kg (3kg & above)’ Rs. 350/kg (above 5kg & above), Silver Carp at Rs. 150/kg (below 3kg), Rs. 180/kg (3kg and above). 

The Minister said about 90,000 kilograms of fish will be on sale in this year’s Fish fair-cum-Fish Crop Competition, 2021. Ngahei (pangasius), Tunghanbi (Tilapia), Ukabi (Anabas) and Porong (Snakehead fish) will also be available at a reasonable price this year. All fishes will be of local product, the Minister informed. 

Rajen also maintained that Sareng (Wallago attu) which has local importance will be produced from the next year. Indigenous fishes will also be produced. Research in this regard is being carried on.  Biofloc Fish Farming has been introduced in the state. Fish farmers have been trained, he maintained. 

Director, Fishery Department, H. Balkrishna Singh, MCS, cooperative fish farmers and officers of fishery department also attended the occasion.
