Imphal: Manipur’s Agriculture Minister Oinam Lukhoi Singh Wednesday handed over Chak-Hao (Black Rice) Poireiton seeds to farmers of Kumbi, Bishnupur district in the presence of MLA, Thanga AC T. Robindro Singh, Director, Agriculture, Kh. Lalmani Singh, District Agriculture Officer, Bishnupur District, Sumendra and concerned officials of the department.
Minister O. Lukhoi interacted with the farmers and noted their concerns and grievances in regards to seeds and fertilizers distribution. He stated that the department always works in the interest of the farmers and further informed that the seeds and fertilizers are purchased by the department from the government approved agencies to give to the farmers at subsidized rates.
To provide quality paddy seeds to farmers, the Agriculture Minister asserted that he will consult with the Chief Minister, N. Biren Singh to propose for setting up of Seed Testing Laboratory under Department of Agriculture, Manipur.
Minister Lukhoi also inspected the paddy fields located in and around Kumbi during the visit.
