Meghalaya reports 121 fresh Covid-19 cases, 2 deaths

Till today, 10, 99,364 persons have been tested for COVID-19 across the State, with 10,17,081 of them being tested negative for the virus, health officials said.

Shillong: The deaths due to COVID-19 related complications of two persons who were not vaccinated against the virus increased the fatality figure to 1415 and the infection of 121 persons added up to 1326 active cases, even as 74 more recoveries surged the number of recovered cases to 79542 on Friday in Meghalaya, which has so far registered 82283 confirmed cases, health officials said.

The COVID-19 cases detected on Friday included 54 in West Khasi Hills district, 48 in East Khasi Hills district, 10 in Ri-Bhoi district, three in East Garo Hills district, two each in South West Khasi Hills district and West Jaintia Hills district and one case each in East Jaintia Hills district and West Garo Hills district.

Meanwhile, the number of active COVID-19 cases in the most pandemic-hit district of East Khasi Hills, which includes state capital Shillong, which recorded 35 more recoveries from the viral infection on Friday, has been on a gradual decline with the latest figure being 708.

As on Friday, the West Khasi Hills district had 358 active COVID-19 cases, followed by West Jaintia Hills district with 124 active cases, Ri-Bhoi district with 68 active cases, South West Khasi Hills district with 21
active cases, West Garo Hills district with 16 active cases, East Garo Hills district with 13 active cases, East Jaintia Hills district with 11 active cases, South West Garo Hills district with three active cases and North Garo Hills district and South Garo Hills district with two active cases each.

Till date, 32,061 health care workers have received the first dose of the vaccine against

COVID-19 and 27,385 have been administered with the second dose, 96,961 front-line workers have got the first jab and 78,021 have taken the second shot, 9,49,593 persons from among the general public have been inoculated with the first dose and 4,04,441 have been fully vaccinated with the second in the State.
