Shillong: Meghalaya on Wednesday reported more recoveries than new Covid-19 cases with 139 people recuperating from the disease and 45 contracting infections, health officials said.
The state also reported one coronavirus-related death from the West Jaintia Hills district, mounting the fatality count to 1,612, the health department said in a bulletin.
The number of people currently infected with the virus is 581 in the State which has so far registered 96,022 confirmed Covid-19 cases and 93,829 people have recovered from the viral infection, the bulletin read.
The most pandemic-hit West Garo Hills, including Tura, reported 21 new Covid-19 cases and 84 cases of recovery even as the number of active cases in the district was recorded at 376, the
highest in the state.
The number of active Covid-19 cases decreased to 78 in the East Khasi Hills, which includes the state capital Shillong with the district reporting five new cases of infection and 27 more cases of recovery on Wednesday, the latest health statistics said.
New cases of viral infection were also reported from East Jaintia Hills district, Eastern West Khasi Hills district, Ri-Bhoi district, South Garo Hills district, South West Garo Hills district, and South West Khasi Hills district, West Jaintia Hills district, and West Khasi Hills district.
Forty-five Covid-19 infected patients are undergoing treatment in various hospitals in the state, the officials said.
