Meghalaya records 88 new Covid-19 cases

The number of people currently infected with the virus in the State to 577, while 39 more people have also recovered from the viral infection, mounting the number of recoveries to 92,674 on Sunday

Shillong: Meghalaya on Sunday reported 88 new Covid-19 cases, taking the overall tally to 94,851, while the death toll remained unchanged at 1600 as no fresh fatality was reported in the state, a health official said.

The number of people currently infected with the virus in the State to 577, while 39 more people have also recovered from the viral infection, mounting the number of recoveries to 92,674 on Sunday, as per government statistics.

Of the total new cases registered during the last 24 hours as of Sunday, West Garo Hills, including Tura reported the maximum number of 52 new cases with the district accounting for 305 active cases, the highest in the state, 22 in East Khasi Hills district, five in South West Garo Hills district, four in Ri-Bhoi district, three in West Jaintia Hills district and two in East Jaintia Hills district

On the other hand, the number of active Covid-19 cases also increased to 141 in the East Khasi Hills district, which includes the state capital Shillong.

Fifty-four Covid-19 infected patients are undergoing treatment in various hospitals in the state, the health official said, adding that one out of the total 12 districts had no active Covid-19 case as of date.

Meanwhile, according to the National Health Mission record, 32,139 health care workers have received the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine, 29,512 have been administered with the second dose and 10,184 have taken the third precaution dose, while 97,029front-line workers have been vaccinated with the first dose, 85,732 have received the second dose and 29,921 have got the precaution shot, even as 13,03,939 persons from among the general public have been inoculated with the first dose, 9,52,923have been fully vaccinated with the second dose and 12,263 citizens have taken the booster dose across the state as on Sunday.
