Meghalaya: President Droupadi Murmu invited to NEHU

According to the NEHU release, on being asked about the status of the University by the President, the Vice-Chancellor updated her about various works carried out in the last one year.

Shillong: The Vice-Chancellor of the North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Shillong, Professor Prabha Shankar Shukla called on President Droupadi Murmu, who is also the Visitor of the University last week at Rashtrapati Bhawan and invited her to visit the University, a statement issued by the NEHU on Tuesday said.

“The Vice-Chancellor in his meeting with the President congratulated her on being appointed as the President of the country on behalf of the staff, students, teachers and the entire University fraternity,” the statement said.

According to the NEHU release, on being asked about the status of the University by the President, the Vice-Chancellor updated her about various works carried out in the last one year.

The Vice-Chancellor brought to the knowledge of the president about the various MoUs that NEHU had signed with different universities, research institutes and industries both nationally and internationally.

He also updated the president about the various centres and offices opened in the University in the last one year like the Office of the International Affairs, MOOCs Centre, Design Innovation Centre, Office of Intellectual Property Rights and the recently opened Dr Ambedkar Centre for Excellence which provides free coaching to UPSC aspirants belonging to Scheduled Caste category.

“The President congratulated the Vice-Chancellor on all the work done in the University. At the end of the meeting, the Vice-Chancellor invited the President to visit NEHU to inaugurate the NEICOD (North East India Centre of Diversity) building which houses all the newly established centres and offices,” the NEHU release read.
