Shillong: Meghalaya Governor C.H. Vijayashankar, along with C&RD Minister A.T. Mondal, launched the “Har Ghar Tiranga” campaign from Raj Bhavan, Shillong, on Tuesday.
In his address, the Governor expressed his pleasure in being part of the launch, underscoring the campaign’s objective of displaying the national flag in every household, as envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He highlighted the campaign’s importance in fostering patriotism and unity, noting its origin during India’s 75th Independence Anniversary as a means to strengthen national pride.
The Governor also recognized Meghalaya’s significant contributions to India’s freedom struggle, honoring state freedom fighters like U Tirot Sing, Kiang Nangbah, and Pa Togan Sangma.
The event featured the distribution of national flags and the unveiling of two books published by the Department of Arts and Culture, titled “U Tirot Sing” and “Bravehearts and Champions of Freedom from the Hills.” The program was attended by government officials, police, NCC cadets, and members of self-help groups.
