Meghalaya Chief Secretary chairs meeting on heavy rainfall

Shillong: The Chief Secretary of Meghalaya, D.P. Wahlang, chaired a review meeting on Thursday to address the recent heavy rainfall affecting the state.

In the meeting, Chief Secretary Wahlang sought updates from all district administrations on the damage to roads and its impact on connectivity, the progress of relief distribution, and the current financial status related to relief efforts.

Deputy Commissioners and officials from various departments participated via video conferencing. The Chief Secretary specifically urged the Deputy Commissioners to provide detailed reports on road connectivity, damage to houses, and the allocation of relief funds. After their briefings, Wahlang expressed satisfaction and appreciation for the efforts made thus far.

He emphasized the importance of remaining vigilant regarding local issues arising from the rains, noting that the Chief Minister is concerned not only about landslides but also about the overall impact on roads due to the rainfall. Wahlang also urged local engineers to stay alert and respond promptly to mitigate any issues caused by the heavy rainfall.
