Imphal: Health & Family Welfare and IPR Minister, Dr. Sapam Ranjan Singh, inaugurated the newly constructed Trevi Hospital and Research Institute at Langol Laimanai on Wednesday.
In his address, Minister Dr. Sapam Ranjan commended the Chief Minister-gi Hakshelgi Tengbang (CMHT) scheme, initiated by Chief Minister N Biren Singh, which provides cashless medical treatment to the people of the state.
He explained that the name ‘Trevi’ originates from a famous fountain in Rome known as a wishing well, symbolizing hopes for better health and prosperity. He expressed that the hospital’s name is fitting as it aims to ensure the well-being of all who visit.
The Minister acknowledged the financial burdens faced by people due to medical expenses and reassured that the government is striving to extend the health scheme to more beneficiaries.
He highlighted that Trevi Hospital would offer commendable service to the public, with CMHT cardholders able to receive cashless medical care, calling it a true boon for the people.
Dr. Sapam Ranjan noted that despite the presence of well-qualified doctors in Manipur, many of whom have worked in esteemed institutions like AIIMS, there is a tendency among the populace to seek treatment outside the state.
He questioned whether this was due to a lack of trust in local medical practitioners or the perception that “the grass is greener on the other side.” He urged the people to change this trend and expressed confidence that Trevi Hospital would provide exceptional service to patients and the community.
During the event, Dr. Sapam Ranjan also launched the website of the multi-specialty hospital. The inauguration was attended by Dr. Bikramjit Singh, Chairman and Managing Director of Trevi Hospital, Langol Laimanai, Imphal, Dr. L Jaychand Singh, former HOD of Medicine Oncology at RIMS, Imphal, among other dignitaries.
