Imphal: Author Dilip Nongmaithem was selected for the prestigious Bal Sahitya Purashkar 2023 in Manipuri language for his book entitled Ibemma Amasung Ngabemma (Stories). The award was announced today by the Sahitya Akademi.
Dilip Nongmaithem hails from Sagolband Moirang Leirak, Imphal West. He was earlier serving as an Assistant Engineer in Public Health Engineering Department, Government of Manipur before retiring from government service.
He is also a senior lawn tennis player at the national and international level having won various State, National and ITF Tournaments.
The award is in the form of a casket containing an engraved copper-plaque and also carries an amount of Rs 50,000 and will be presented at the awardee at a special function to be held at a later date.
