Imphal: One of the premier institutions in the northeast region, the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences, (RIMS) Imphal has been granted permission to start Kidney transplantation by the Directorate of Health Services, Government of Manipur.
The registration has been accorded under sections 14 and 15 of the Transplantation of Human Organs (Amendment), 2011.
Director RIMS stated that this will be of immense benefit to the state as the Institute will be able to perform these procedures at a reasonable rate.
The doctors of RIMS Imphal will be trying their level best to perform its first kidney transplant surgery soon.
