Manipur records 780 fresh Covid cases, 11 deaths; 14,813 inoculated

Imphal: Manipur on Tuesday recorded 780 fresh cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours and 11 deaths due to the virus, according to data shared by the health department here.

Eleven persons – two persons each at RIMS, Shija Hospital, and Raj Medicity, four at JNIMS and one at CHC Chakpikarong expired. Among them the highest casualties were reported from Imphal West at six, and followed by Thoubal at three and one each at Imphal East and Chandel.

With this, the total number of Covd-19 cases reported in Manipur since the beginning of the pandemic has reached 69,198. Of this, over 62,134 patients, including 488 on Tuesday, have recovered so far and the death toll stands at 1,141.

The number of active cases is 5,923 and the recovery rate is 89.79 per cent.

According to the latest health bulletin, 5,051 tests, including 4,702 RT-PCR/TrueNat ones, were conducted during the day to detect Covid-19 infection.

Meanwhile, Imphal East district administration has directed all the shopkeepers, including shops, pharmacies, and workshops to vaccinate themselves and display the certificate of vaccination at the earliest. The said certificates may be required to be shown while enquired for production by the police and district administration, a statement issued by Khumanthem Diana Devi, Deputy Commissioner, Imphal East District said.

For the first time, around 14,813 beneficiaries, the highest in number till date were vaccinated in the last 24 hours in Manipur. Government data shows that 5,48,916 people have so far been vaccinated against the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) in the state.

Meanwhile, the state health department has appealed people with oxygen saturation level below 95 to immediately seek medical advice or shift to Covid Care Centres, Helpline numbers: Covid Control Room number -1800-345-3818, Home Isolation Helpline: 0385-2441230, 0385-2441231.
