Manipur records 748 fresh COVID-19 cases, 12 deaths in last 24 hours

Imphal: Manipur reported 748 new instances of the COVID-19 infection, according to the health bulletin released on Tuesday. Twelve more people died due to the disease in a day, pushing the death count to 908.

On Monday, Manipur had recorded 15 fatalities, the highest in a week time, and 598 positive cases. On last Tuesday (1st June 2021), the state registered 18 deaths and 798 positive cases.

Twelve persons – one at JNIMS, two each at RIMS, Raj Medicity and District Hospital Churachandpur and five at Shija Hospital expired. Among them four each are from Imphal West and East district, one each from Thoubal and Bishnpur and two from Churachandpur district.

The total number of cases reported in the state so far stood at 56,576, while over 46,527 patients have recovered from the virus. The recovery rate is 82.23 per cent, slightly lowered than the previous day.

India reported 86,498 Covid-19 cases over the past 24 hours, the lowest fall of daily cases in 66 days, according to an official statement.

The tally is also less than one lakh Covid infections after 63 days.

The country’s recovery rate improved to 94.29 per cent while recoveries outnumbered the daily cases for the 26th day in a row.

 The total number of active cases in the state stood at 9,141. Nearly 45 per cent of the active cases are in home isolation.  On Tuesday, a total of 579 patients including 395 from home isolation were discharged.

A total of 1672 D-type Oxygen cylinders and 549 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities of Manipur.

Manipur has scaled a significant peak as it administered more than 4,35,172 doses of Covid-19 vaccination so far with 12,100 more on Tuesday, a government statement said.
