Imphal: Manipur reported another huge spike of 1127 new positive cases in the last 24 hours leading up to 5 pm of Tuesday. This is just just one short of the record single-day spike of 1128 registered on July 16. 1112 of these are from the general population while 15 of them are personnel of the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF).
During the same period, 17 more persons succumbed to the deadly pandemic while 736 persons recovered and were discharged, as per an official release from the Covid-19 common Control Room..
Six of the 17 persons who passed away belong to Imphal West, three each to Thoubal and Bishnupur, two to Imphal East while one each were from Chandel, Churachandpur and Kakching. The cumulative death toll in the state now stands at 1,409.
The 1112 persons from the general population who tested positive, include 350 are from Imphal West, 321 from Imphal East, 111 from Churachandpur, 90 from Bishnupur, 78 from Thoubal, 77 from Kakching, 22 from Chandel, 18 from Kangpokpi, 14 from Tamenglong, 10 each from Tengnoupal and Senapati, 9 from Noney, 8 from Ukhrul, 7 from Jiribam and 2 from Pherzawl.
Altogether 7,279 persons were tested Monday. The positivity rate on Tuesday showed marked improvement from 17.8% Monday to 15.5%.
Meanwhile, 736 persons who were discharged, include 325 from home isolation, 231 from CHICs, 148 from CCCs, 18 from RIMS and 13 from JNIMS. The recovery rate in the state dipped marginally to 86.76% on Monday.
The cumulative number of positive cases is 86,723(General Population – 82,770, Central Security Personnel – 3,953). The cumulative number of recovered cases is 75,247(General Population – 71,386, Central Security Personnel – 3,861). The number of active cases is 10,067(General Population – 9,980 Personnel – 87).
23,623 persons were vaccinated on June July 19, 2021. The cumulative number of vaccination is 10,66,127 (1st dose 9,96,675, 2nd dose 1,19,452).
