Manipur Raj Bhavan joins International Yoga Day celebrations

Imphal: The International Day of Yoga was celebrated on Friday at Raj Bhavan in Imphal. Observed globally on June 21st each year, this day was adopted by the United Nations in 2014 to promote the significant physical and mental health benefits of yoga, a practice that originated in ancient India.

This year’s theme, “Yoga for Self and Society,” highlights the crucial role of yoga in enhancing individual wellbeing and fostering social harmony. The Governor of Manipur, Miss Anusuiya Uikey, participated in yoga asanas alongside officers, staff, and security personnel at Raj Bhavan this morning.

After the yoga session, Governor Uikey encouraged the people of Manipur to practice yoga daily to maintain a healthy and balanced lifestyle. She emphasized the importance of yoga as Prime Minister Narendra Modi envisioned, noting its widespread celebration across the country and the world. The Governor highlighted the health benefits of yoga, advocating for a broader understanding and adoption of this practice to improve physical and mental health.

Governor Uikey also extended her best wishes to all officers, staff, security personnel, and officials from the Ayush Department who participated in the yoga session, urging everyone in the state to incorporate yoga into their daily routines as an essential exercise.
