Imphal: During the last 24 hours, in search operations and area domination conducted by security forces in the fringe and vulnerable areas of hill and valley districts an active cadre of NRFM (National Revolutionary Front of Manipur) identified as Heisnam James Singh @ Kumar (33 years) from Lamphel RIMS Road near RIMS Gate was apprehended.
Further, from his possession, one two-wheeler vehicle and one mobile were seized. He was involved in extortion from various places in the Imphal area.
Movement of 291 and 224 vehicles along NH-37 and NH-2 respectively with essential items has been ensured. Strict security measures are taken up in all vulnerable locations and a security convoy is provided in sensitive stretches to ensure free and safe movement of the vehicles.
A total of 130 Nakas/ Checkpoints were installed in different Districts of Manipur, both in the hill and the valley and Police detained 115 persons in connection with violations in different districts of the State, according to a press note from the Police Control Room Manipur Police.
