Imphal: N Kaiyisii, a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) in Manipur and former Minister, passed away on Saturday at his official residence after a long battle with illness.
Kaiyisii, who represented the Tadubi Assembly constituency in Senapati district, was a two-time MLA and one of the six lawmakers from the National People’s Party (NPP) in the Manipur Legislative Assembly. He was first elected in 2017 and re-elected in 2022, both times under the leadership of Conrad Sangma’s NPP. Since March 2021, he has served as the state president of the party.

From 2017 to 2020, Kaiyisii held the position of Minister for Tribal and Hill Areas and Fisheries in the N. Biren Singh-led government. While the NPP supported the second term of the Biren Singh government, the party withdrew its support in November 2024.
Family members revealed that the former legislator had been battling stomach cancer for the past year and died at 2.10 pm.
Chief Minister N. Biren Singh, his ministerial colleagues along with other political leaders such as Y. Joykumar, former Deputy Chief Minister, and colleagues from the NPP, visited the late MLA’s residence to offer their condolences.
Expressing his ‘profound grief, to the demise of Tadubi Assembly, Chief Minister N Biren Singh said Kaiyisii’s demise was not only a loss for his family but an irreparable loss for the entire state. The Chief Minister added that the void created by his demise would be extremely difficult.
Manipur Governor Ajay Bhalla expressed deep sadness over the passing of N. Kayisii, MLA of Tadubi AC. Remembering his unwavering dedication to Manipur’s progress, the Governor extended heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and all who held him dear. He prayed for his soul to rest in eternal peace.
