Noney: As part of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan campaign across Noney District joined the nationwide programme by organising a Mega Marathon on Thursday morning. Noney SP Peter Namsadai Pamei flagged off the Mega Marathon in the presence of Noney ADC, Stiff Khapudang and other dignitaries from Noney bridge in Longmai Bazar.
It was The event organised jointly by District Administration Noney, District Social Welfare Office Noney, and Noney Police was participated by hundreds of runners from both male and female in open category. .
Starting point for the female category was from Longmai Bazar bridge to Makhuam part-4 waiting shed in NH-37 and ended at the Longmai-3 common ground while the starting point for the male category was from Longmai Bazar bridge to DC junction in NH-37 and ended at the Longmai-3 common ground respectively.
Amongst the hundreds of enthusiastic runners, the first prize in the male category was bagged by Gainithui Malangmei and second prize by Gaitanthai Gonmei and the third prize by Rephidim Phaomei while the first prize in women category went to KathanduanliuGonmei, second prize to LungthaoliuPanmei and the third prize to Gaingamliu Kamei.
It may be mentioned that Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan is an ambitious program launched by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India on August 15, 2020 to make India a drug free nation and to educate the general public, mostly youth and children, about the harmful effects of substance abuse.
