Manipur Health Minister joins Rashtriya Poshan Maha 2022 at Phoijing Awang Leikai

Minister Dr. Ranjan said the role being played by the Anganwadi workers, helpers and ASHAs in the society need to be encouraged

Imphal: Health & IPR Minister Dr. Sapam Ranjan Singh joined the occasion of Rastriya Poshan Maah, National Nutrition Month, at Phoijing Awang Community Hall in Konthoujam Assembly Constituency, Wednesday. The occasion was organized by ICDS Project Imphal West-1, Lamsang.

Speaking as Chief Guest at the occasion, Minister Dr. Ranjan said the role being played by the Anganwadi workers, helpers and ASHAs in the society need to be encouraged. Anganwadi workers and helpers work at the grassroot and help to reach out the flagship schemes to the outreached.

The Minister said that the department of Health, Social Welfare and Education need to join hands and work together for a better and prosperous society. These trio are interrelated and also complementary to each other. For bringing a better child and maternal health care system, we need to focus on the primary level health care service. In this regard Anganwadi helpers and workers are playing a big role, he added.  

The Minister maintained that the government has launched many health care schemes at the state and central level. TB Mukt Bharat is a model example. The government has set 2025 as the target for complete elimination of TB disease from the country which is five years ahead of the WHO target.

Regarding the legalization of liquor, Ranjan maintained that the new decision has been taken for the health benefit of the consumers. The decision is not taken hastily. There will be strict scrutiny on every trade and production of liquor after it has been fully implemented in the state, the minister added.    He also appealed to all the concerned to work with dedication and sincerity. 

Bantee Singh Konthoujam, Joint Director, Social Welfare Department, Manipur, H. Lalkanhai, President BJP, Konthoujam Mandal, A. Bimola Devi, Ex Vice-Chairperson, Nambol Municipal Council, Ex-Councilors, M. Premabati, M. Priyokumar Meitei, Pradhan, Yarou Bamdiar, GP, L. Sorojini Devi were amongst those who shared the dais. Supervisors and staff of the Social Welfare Department, Anganwadi workers and staff and others also attended the occasion.
