Imphal: Amid long queues at petrol stations, the Manipur government reassured the public that there are adequate stocks of petrol and diesel, urging people not to engage in panic buying.
In light of the current situation, many have started panic buying of petroleum products (POL) and forming long lines at fuel stations.
However, a statement from Robertson Asem, Directorate of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, on Thursday, emphasized that there is sufficient stock of petrol and diesel in the state. There is no imminent shortage, and all fuel stations have been instructed to operate as usual.
The government also appealed to the public to only purchase fuel for their daily needs and avoid panic buying in the interest of the broader community.
Additionally, the Directorate requested the support of district police officials to crack down on any unauthorized sales of POL in the black market.
