Imphal: Manipur Governor Le Ganesan has urged the people of Manipur to vote without fear and said that this right will determine the destiny of the people in the coming five years.

The 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly elections will be held in two phases on 28th February (38 Assembly constituencies) and 5th March (22 Assembly constituencies) respectively.

“I am very much in favour of smooth and peaceful passing off the election process without any major untoward incident,” said the governor in a statement here on Friday.

In order to enable the general public to participate in this very important democratic process and exercise their right of franchise freely and fairly abstaining/avoiding from any type of violent acts is indispensable at this critical juncture, the governor added.

“I also appeal to all concerned in both hills and valley districts to avoid any kind of violent activities so as to enable the people to exercise their franchise freely and fairly,” Ganesan said.
