Imphal: The governor of Manipur, Anusuiya Uikey, said that she will extend all possible help for the welfare of ex-servicemen in the state and also at the national level. She was speaking at a luncheon Thursday with a delegation of Akhil Bharatiya Poorva Sainik Seva Parishad (ABPSSP) at Raj Bhavan in Imphal.
The delegation is visiting Manipur in connection with the observance of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Moirang Utsav 2023, which will be held on Friday at INA Headquarters in Moirang. It may be mentioned that Colonel Shaukat Malik of the Indian National Army hoisted the tricolour at Moirang for the first time on Indian soil on April 14, 1944.
The governor said the ABPSSP has been contributing not only for the welfare of ex-servicemen, but also for people in general. She said that even in difficult times like the COVID pandemic, the Parishad had contributed a lot, which is commendable. Their roles in the country’s security are praiseworthy. The governor assured the delegation that she will extend all possible help in the state as well as at the national level. She also wished them for their well-being and expressed hope that they would contribute further to the welfare of society in the future.
Remembering the contribution of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose in the freedom struggle, the governor said, Netaji and his Indian National Army had contributed significantly to the awakening of patriotism in the country. The patriotic fervour of Nataji Subhas Chandra Bose is a source of inspiration for people all over the world fighting for the motherland.
She continued that it is a matter of pride that the people of Manipur have played a very important role in the freedom struggle. Most of the battles fought by INA were in Manipur. The people of the state sacrificed their lives in the freedom struggle, the governor added.
