Imphal: The Governor of Manipur, Miss Anusuiya Uikey, held a meeting this evening at Raj Bhavan in Imphal with H. Gyan Prakash, the Acting Vice Chancellor of DM University, and Dr. Nivedita Lairenlakpam, the Registrar of DMU.

The discussion focused on the unresolved issue regarding the non-declaration of recruitment results for assistant professors in the Botany and Physics departments.

VC Gyan Prakash explained that the tabulation submitted by the examining authority was incomplete, with only four candidates each for Botany and Physics listed on the proceeding sheet.

He further mentioned that eleven assistant professors for Botany and thirteen for Physics need to be recruited. Due to the absence of a merit list, fresh interviews will be conducted shortly for the candidates who previously attended the interview.

Governor Uikey directed the university authorities to form an enquiry committee to investigate the recruitment process. She also instructed them to keep her updated on the committee’s findings.

Separately, former Chief Minister of Manipur and CLP Leader, O. Ibobi Singh, met with Governor Uikey at Raj Bhavan on Tuesday.

They discussed the current situation in the state, with Singh highlighting the impact of the ongoing unrest on development, employment, and the socio-economic status of the people. Law and order issues were also addressed during their meeting.
