Manipur Governor, CM extend Mahvir Jayanti greetings

Imphal: Governor of Manipur, Anusuiya Uikey and Chief Minister, N Biren Singh extended greetings to the people of Manipur, especially the Jain community on the sacred and auspicious occasion of Mahavir Jayanti. 2024.

In her message, Governor Uikey said, “Lord Mahavira, an apostle of peace and non-violence, showed humanity the path to salvation through love, compassion mercy and abdication of material elements. His teachings transcend all barriers and His everlasting message of peaceful co-existence rings true even now”.

While remembering and celebrating the birth of this apostle of peace, Governor Uikey called on all to “re-dedicate to follow the spiritual and ethical path propounded by Him and follow his values of living in harmony and brotherhood”.

Chief Minister, N Biren Singh in his message said, “Mahavir Jayanti marks the birth anniversary of Lord Mahavir. Lord Mahavir, the 24th and the last Tirthankara of the Jain faith propounded that ahimsa is the supreme moral virtue”. “He was an apostle of truth and righteousness. His teachings, emphasizing non-violence and leading a virtuous life, hold relevance today, especially as we seek peace and normalcy” he added.

Stating that Mahavir Jayanti is an occasion to reflect upon his teachings of universal brotherhood and harmony, he said, “I am hopeful that his timeless teachings will guide us on the path to peace and reconciliation”.
