Imphal: Manipur Governor Laksman Prasad Acharya and Chief Minister N. Biren Singh extended their heartfelt greetings to the people of the state on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti.
In his message, Governor Acharya highlighted Mahatma Gandhi’s unwavering dedication to the principles of truth and non-violence, considering them essential for achieving peace and prosperity. He urged all citizens to set aside differences and embrace Gandhi’s teachings for the greater good.
“Gandhiji was deeply committed to cleanliness, which he saw not only as physical sanitation but also as a purification of the soul, essential for becoming better human beings,” the Governor said. He praised the Swachh Bharat Mission, initiated in line with Gandhi’s vision of cleanliness and sanitation, encouraging all citizens to participate actively by keeping their homes and surroundings clean. Governor Acharya concluded his message by extending warm greetings to the people of Manipur.
Chief Minister N. Biren Singh also paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi, emphasizing his lifelong pursuit of truth, which he embodied in his movement of “Satyagraha,” a nonviolent quest for truth through peace and love.
“In these challenging times for our state, Gandhiji’s philosophy of Ahimsa holds great relevance, reminding us that meaningful change can be achieved through peaceful means—through dialogue and understanding, even in the face of adversity,” said the Chief Minister. On this Gandhi Jayanti, he urged everyone to reflect on Gandhi’s ideals to better equip themselves to confront the challenges ahead.
