Imphal: Salam Rohendro Singh, a pioneering fish farmer from Manipur, has been invited to share his extensive experience in fish farming with young Civil Service Probationers attending the 99th Foundation Course at the prestigious Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA) in Mussoorie.
The three-month foundation course, which runs from August 26 to November 29, 2024, includes probationers from All India Services such as the Indian Administrative Service, Indian Police Service, Indian Foreign Service, Indian Forest Service, and Central Services, as well as officers from the Royal Bhutan Service. Rohendro Singh will lead a 90-minute interactive session on agriculture and allied sectors in the last week of October 2024.
Rohendro Singh was previously engaged with LBSNAA in 2023, where he shared his transformative journey as a progressive fish farmer in Manipur. Recognized as one of the pioneers of Sareng culture in Manipur, Rohendro recently made headlines for his breakthrough in breeding the Meitei Sareng (Wallago attu).
In recognition of his contributions, he was awarded first prize in the State Level Fish Fair in 2021, organized by the Department of Fisheries, Manipur, for producing the highest quantity of fish.
He also received the Haricharan Das Best Progressive Fish Farmer Award from the College of Fisheries, Lembucherra, Tripura, in 2022. In 2023, Rohendro was honored with the ICAR – Farmer Innovative Award in Umiam, Meghalaya, for his remarkable work in reviving the Sareng in Manipur.
