Manipur BJP leaders pay last respects to Laishram Rameshwar

Rameshwar, 55, the convenor of the ex-servicemen cell of the state BJP unit, was shot dead by two armed miscreants near his home at Thoubal Kshtri Leikai, on Tuesday.

Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state unit president Adhikarimayum Sharda Devi, and senior party leaders paid their last respects to Laishram Rameshwar Singh at BJP headquarters, Thambal Shanglen, here on Wednesday.

Rameshwar, 55, the convenor of the ex-servicemen cell of the state BJP unit, was shot dead by two armed miscreants near his home at Thoubal Kshtri Leikai, on Tuesday. 

CM Biren, accompanied by the BJP state unit chief, and several other senior BJP leaders paid their respects at Thambal Shanglen in the morning, where Rameshwar’s body was brought from the hospital.

“It’s indeed a great loss to the BJP and the state. My heart goes out to the bereaved family,” Biren said. 

Over a dozen ex-servicemen and friends and colleagues of the deceased also attended the occasion. 

The party recalled the services  rendered by Rameshwar. 

The BJP leaders consoled Rameshwar’s wife, and family members.
