Manipur: Bishnupur dist launches Poshan Maah 2024 celebrations

DC Lourembam Bikram emphasized that Poshan Maah, observed from September 1 to September 30, is celebrated nationwide to tackle malnutrition among children, adolescent girls, pregnant women, and lactating mothers.

Bishnupur: Deputy Commissioner Lourembam Bikram officially launched Poshan Maah 2024 as part of the Poshan Abhiyan, the Prime Minister’s initiative for holistic nourishment, at the Conference Hall of the DC Office, Bishnupur, on Monday.

During his address, DC Lourembam Bikram emphasized that Poshan Maah, observed from September 1 to September 30, is celebrated nationwide to tackle malnutrition among children, adolescent girls, pregnant women, and lactating mothers. The 7th Rashtriya Poshan Maah 2024 focus areas include anaemia, growth monitoring, and complementary feeding.

He highlighted the program’s significance, stating that ensuring the health of mothers and children is essential for a healthier India. Poshan Maah seeks to enhance nutritional outcomes holistically for pregnant women, lactating mothers, adolescent girls, and children under six years of age.

The DC also pointed out that the ministry closely oversees state-level activities for this initiative. The Poshan Tracker, which provides real-time online data, is instrumental in monitoring the performance of every Anganwadi worker in the district, enabling the ministry to evaluate and enhance program effectiveness.

He called on all relevant departments to work together to implement the program effectively at the grassroots level and stressed the importance of raising awareness to ensure the program’s success.

The event was organized by the District Administration Bishnupur in collaboration with the ICDS Cell, Bishnupur, and was attended by key officials, including ADM Bishnupur H. Bobby Sharma, Chief Medical Officer Bishnupur Dr. L. Raichandra, and District ICDS Cell Bishnupur Programme Officer H. Mitabina Devi.

Following the inauguration, Deputy Commissioner Lourembam Bikram flagged off a Poshan Rally from the Mini Secretariat Complex, Bishnupur, with Anganwadi supervisors and helpers from the district participating in the event.
