Imphal: Assam rifles foiled massive quantity of contraband smuggling in Tengnoupal District on June 23, 24.
Checkposts at Bongmol and SL Zougam on June 23, 2024 intercepted five vehicles carrying 109,000 cigarette packets and 4096 liquor bottles hidden beneath grocery items.
A detailed search of the vehicles was carried out and the entire seizure along with 12 individuals and five vehicles were handed over to Machi Police Station, said a press note from the PRO IGAR (S).
