Imphal: Additional Chief Secretary (Transport & TCI) Anurag Bajpai Thursday inspected the readiness of the first Multi-Level-Parking of Imphal at Nagamapal, basement parking of Ema Keithel and the feasible location for E-rickshaw parking near Ema Keithel-1 at Imphal along with Kh. Diana Devi, Director (Transport) and other officials.
CEO, Smart City, demonstrated operations of Multi-Level-Parking. ACS enquired about the capacity of Multi-level parking for 4-wheelers & 2-Wheelers, its power backup, maintenance provisions and time to be taken in its completion. He directed the CEO to complete the remaining works, put proper signages for information and make it ready for inauguration by the end of March, 2026.
He also advised him to build a Waiting shed and submit the feasibility report of another site identified for second Mauti-Level-Parking at Nagamapal immediately.
ACS inspected the basement parking of Ema Keithel-1. It was found closed and its outer space was being used by the unknown persons/vendors for keeping their articles. CEO, Smart City was directed to get basement parking opened, cleaned, properly lit with systems in place for its operationalisation from the end of March, 2026.
Bajpai with his team also inspected a proposed suitable site for E-rickshaw parking at Nagamapal near Ema Keithel-1. ACS advised the Director, Transport and SP, Traffic to develop the proposal immediately in order to decongest the area.
Thereafter, the Additional Chief Secretary inspected the operations at ISBT which were restarted from 22nd January, 2026 with its recommissioning. He conveyed his satisfaction because now ISBT is being used for its purpose by the common people to board inter-state and intra-state buses and wingers. People are not only using buses and wingers for their movement, but also for transportation of luggage etc. ACS inspected the entire premises including the functional toilet and water supply therein.
He advised the Sweepers’ Association positioned there to keep the premises clean and free of plastic bottles. ACS advised DTO/Imphal East to organise the parking within the campus of ISBT being used by private vehicles of the staff of the Transport and Taxation Department.
ACS also advised DTO/Imphal East and Imphal West to move frequently with the Interceptor vehicle in their jurisdiction and regulate violation of traffic laws. He suggested the Director (Transport) have a special drive against the violators with Traffic Department.
