Manipur: 78th I-Day celebrated with enthusiasm at Central Forest Division

Imphal: The 78th Independence Day was marked with great fervor at the Mantripukhri Complex of the Central Forest Division. The event was presided over by Divisional Forest Officer Ganesh N., with Chief Conservator of Forest Joykumar Singh serving as the Chief Guest. Several esteemed forest officers and dignitaries were present for the occasion.

In his welcome address, Ganesh N. underscored the significance of Independence Day and stressed the critical role of safeguarding the nation’s natural resources. He emphasized the forest department’s vital contribution to environmental preservation and sustainable development.

Chief Guest Joykumar Singh commended the forest staff for their dedication and hard work in maintaining the region’s rich biodiversity. He encouraged them to continue their tireless efforts to protect forests and wildlife, while also acknowledging the invaluable support of environmentalists, Joint Forest Management Committees (JFMC), and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in their collective conservation efforts.

The highlight of the event was the presentation of awards to outstanding forest staff for their exceptional performance in official duties and display of exemplary courage. They are as follows

2. Shekherjit Maibam, Forester, excellence in discipline

3. M. Suresh Singh, Forester, for punctuality and excellence in official duties

4. Md Javed, Forester, for excellence in official duties, discipline

5. R.K. Anoop Singh, FG, for excellence in official duties

6. Waikhom Beeky Singh, FG for excellence in Forest Fire Fighting and public duty

7. Laishram Somorjit Singh, FG, for exemplary courage and dedication in duty

8. S. Jotihar, FG, for excellence in official duties

9. P. Priyokumar Singh, FG, for excellence in official duties

10. Sanjrambam Kiran Meetei, FG, for excellence in official duties

11.Kh. Hemanta Singh, FG, for office duty and overall works

12.Kharibam Himananda, FG, for exemplary courage and dedication in duty

13.Ng. Satrajit Singh, FG, for excellence in official duties

14.Lisam Sujeet Singh, FG, for office duty and overall works

15.Th. Jibal Singh, FG, for excellence in plantation, Forest Fire fighting

16.Th. Rajesh, FG, for office duty and overall works

17.Th. Hemchand Singh, FG for exemplary courage and dedication in duty

Awards were also given to environmentalists, JFMC, and CSOs for their contributions to conservation and sustainable development which include Manikanta Mutum, Hidangmayum Bihari Sharma, Tongbram Tejkumar, Kango Awang Development Organization, Sekmai, Punna Hingminnaba Marup Waiton, Lamdeng Mayai Leikai JFMC.

The celebration concluded with a pledge to protect the nation’s natural heritage and promote environmental stewardship.
