Imphal: Social Welfare Director Ngangom Uttam Singh Saturday released a book titled – ‘Paokhum Phangkhidraba Wahang’, one of the most popular radio dramas in Manipur.
Written by Mani Taiyenjam, ‘Paokhum Phangkhidraba Wahang’, was first played on All India Radio, Imphal on 19 March, 2001.
Born to late Taiyenjam Kullabidhu Singh and Taiyenjam Ongbi Keinahanbi on 19 January, 1949, at Heingang Mayai Leikai, Imphal West, Taiyenjam Mani is an approved playwright of the AIR, Imphal. He has written nine drama books including ‘Paokhum Phangkhidraba Wahang’, in his nearly five decades career as a writer.
‘Hugi Polang’, ‘Leichillakta Purnima’, Nalini Badal (Best script, Manipur Junior Yatra Competition, 1975), ‘Asi Oireko Imphal’ (1st May 1982), ‘Ashibana Hallakpa’ (Best script, Manipur Junior Yatra Competition, 1976), ‘Ingellei’ (8th September 1994), ‘Mapok’ (20th September 2014) and ‘Award One Lakh’ (2021) are some of his popular drama books which have been released so far.
Apart from his drama books, nearly 20 Leelas written by Taiyenjam Manipur have been played by the All India Radio, Imphal. The book was published by the Patriotic Writers Forum, Manipur.
Naoroibam Khamba Luwang, President, PAWF, Manipur, Konjenbam Jayenta, Pradhan, Heingang Gram Panchayat and Manobi MM, Eminent Playwright also attended the function, which was held at Manipur Press Club.
