Kottayam: Malayalam actor Pradeep KR, popularly known as Pradeep Kottayam, died of a heart attack at a hospital here in Kerala on Thursday. He was 61. Pradeep passed away at 4.10 am, as per family sources. He is survived by his wife Maya and two children, Vishnu Siva and Vrinda. Hailing from Kumaranellur here, Pradeep started his acting career in 2001 in “Ee Nadu Enable Vare” directed by IV Sasi.
He started off as a junior artist and appeared in many films, including “Rajamanikyam”, and “2 Harihar Nagar”. Then he got a breakthrough in Gautham Vasudev Menon’s hit film “Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa”.
He played the role of the uncle of heroine Trisha Krishnan. His best works include “Aadu Oru Bheegara Jeevi Aanu”, “Oru Vadakkan Selfie”, “Life of Josutty”, “Kunjiramayanam”, “Welcome to Central Jail”, “Amar Akbar Antony”, “Adi Kapyare Kootamani” and “Kattappanayile Rithwik Roshan”. Known for his special style of rendering dialogues, Pradeep mostly featured in comedy, supporting and cameo roles. He also won the best supporting actor for various roles at the second Asianet Comedy Awards 2016.
