Kakching: As part of the International Women’s Day celebration, Mahila Sabha (women’s assembly) was conducted at various Gram Panchayats (GP) under the Kakching District on Saturday. The day is being celebrated across the globe under the theme “For All Women and Girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment”.
During the meeting, speakers discussed the importance of celebrating the day, unanimously stressing that concerted efforts are needed to recognise contributions made by women and advocate gender equality. The speakers also discussed various agendas, raising awareness about gender disparities and encouraging actions to create a more inclusive society.Â
The Mahila Sabha was jointly organised in collaboration with the Panchayati Raj Institution (PRI) and the Village Level Federations promoted under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana-National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM), which is a flagship program of the Ministry of Rural Development that aims to reduce poverty in rural India by focusing on promoting self-employment and organisation of rural poor.
It may be mentioned that the components of DAY-NRLM includes social mobilization, financial inclusion, sustainable livelihoods, social inclusion, social development and convergence with PRIs and other line Departments.
