Imphal: The Governor of Manipur, La Ganesan has extended greetings to the people of the State on the auspicious occasion of Yaoshang which will be celebrated from March 18 to March 22.
In his message Governor Ganesan said that the festival of Yashang is celebrated at the onset of spring every year by the Vaishnavites of the State. “It is a celebration symbolizing the rejuvenation of the very spirit of life and the young and the old alike take part in the festival of colours”.
Continuing further, Governor Ganesan in his message said that the festival is marked with fun, gaiety and spiritualism, leaving behind the past and looking forward to a new day full of hope. The festival also exhorts one and all to leave behind their difference and strengthen the bond of unity irrespective of caste, creed and religion.
Stating that Yaosahng has now become sport movement, Governor Ganesan said “the emphasis in these sports is more on participating by al irrespective of age and sex”.
Governor Ganesan appealed to all to celebrate Yaoshang in its true spirit with the participation of all communities and call on all to resolve to make Manipur a better and peaceful State “where mutual respect and love prevail among all communities”.
