Addl. DC, Kakching, Moirangthem Kapajit Singh, MGNF- Kakching Irom Abesana Devi and various officials of the district were present in the launching programme
The objective of this project is to promote livelihood opportunities for 100 inmates of relief camps located across the district by imparting skills on a pilot basis.
DC, Kakching highlighted the details of the project. Leibaklei (Scientific name-Kaempferia rotunda) even though characterized by its sweet fragrance and delicate nature, is known for its resilient nature. It springs from the ground directly without any leaves around and this delicate flower perseveres and survives the windy month of April, the severe heat of May and June and the stormy weather of July. Just like the resilient Leibaklei, this project aims to empower the displaced victims of the ethnic violence to rise up like the flower by imparting them livelihood skills.
The project will train and empower the inmates & enable them to become self-sufficient
and raise the level of self-employment, boost employment generation, increase productivity, employability and improve standards of living thereby contributing to the structural transformation and enhancing the economic output at the district level.
This project will be implemented through departments/institute which has expertise in skilling. Key training providers include KVK, RSETI and MSRLM. They will impart skill training as per the aspirations of the inmates. Providing skill trainings as per demand will ensure in bringing an effective and tangible outcome of the project. The project was designed by MGNF- Kakching Irom Abesana Devi. Hereafter any products launched under this project will be named “Leibaklei”.
