Imphal: A delegation of elected members from the Manipur Assembly, representing the Kuki-Zo-Hmar, Meitei, and Naga communities, gathered in New Delhi on Tuesday to discuss the ongoing situation in the state.

In a unanimous decision, the legislators urged all communities to reject violence, stressing the importance of preventing further loss of innocent lives.

The two-hour meeting, led by the Intelligence Bureau and overseen by the Union Home Ministry, focused on concrete steps to restore peace in Manipur.

Participants included Manipur Assembly Speaker Thokchom Satyabrata, Th. Basantakumar Singh, Dr. Sapam Ranjan, Minister Yumnam Khemchand, along with legislators Thokchom Radheshyam, Tonbram Robindro, Letpao Haokip, Haokholet Kipgen, Ngursanglur Sanate, Nemcha Kipgen, Awangbow Newmai, Ram Muivah, Losii Dikho, and other ministry officials, including IB officials and BJP leader Sambit Patra.

Notably, this was the first official face-to-face meeting convened by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) since the ethnic conflict erupted in May of last year.

Meanwhile, the Opposition Congress expressed disappointment with the meeting, stating that it should have been chaired by the Union Home Minister or the junior Minister of State. The party criticized the fact that the dialogue was led by officials, calling it inappropriate for such a significant issue.
