Imphal: In a series of successful joint operations, the Indian Army and Assam Rifles, in collaboration with Manipur Police and other security forces, recovered 11 weapons and various war-like materials from the hill and valley regions of Churachandpur, Chandel, and Thoubal districts in Manipur.
On October 22, 2024, an intelligence-based operation was launched in the Thoroilok area of Churachandpur district by the Indian Army, in coordination with the Manipur Police and CRPF. The operation led to the recovery of two country-made mortars (Pompi), a country-made pistol, grenades, explosives, ammunition, and other war-like materials. That same day, Assam Rifles and Manipur Police recovered a .303 rifle, a single-barrel rifle, ammunition, and additional war-like stores from Lamzang village, near Bongbal.
In Chandel district, Assam Rifles conducted combing operations between Songkhom and Gunjil villages, recovering an automatic weapon, two locally-made mortars (Pompi), a single-barrel gun, ammunition, and more war-like materials.
On October 23, 2024, in Thoubal district, Assam Rifles and Manipur Police recovered a cache containing a 9mm country-made pistol, a single-barrel breech-loading (SBBL) gun, two grenades, ammunition, and other war-like stores in the Kwarok Maring village area.
These successful recoveries underscore the seamless cooperation between the Indian Army, Assam Rifles, and law enforcement agencies, highlighting their commitment to maintaining security in the region. The continued efforts of these forces are crucial in ensuring peace and stability in Manipur.
