Lakshadweep: Considering the improvement in the COVID situation and almost 100 per cent vaccination coverage in Lakshadweep, travel restrictions and quarantine norms have been revised by the District Administration.
Lakshadweep Collector S Asker Ali in an order said “the CoVID-19 situation has improved substantially and there are no active cases since October 16, 2021, in the Islands.”
According to an order issued on Thursday, no COVID test is required for those travelling from the mainland to the island or from one island to another and taking both the doses of Covid-19 vaccine, 14 days prior to their movement, on the production of a valid vaccination certificate.
“No quarantine will be there for those people who have taken both doses of vaccination 14 days prior to their travel either from the mainland to the island or from one island to another,” it said.
“Non-vaccinated or partially vaccinated persons have to carry a negative RTPCR test report obtained 48 hours before the travel from the mainland to island or from one island to another island and they have to undergo three-day mandatory quarantine on arrival from the mainland to island or from one island to another.”
“The shore leave shall be allowed to all ship / HSC crews those who have taken both the doses of CoVID-19 vaccine at Islands as well as the mainland. The thermal scanning of all passengers has to be carried out at Kochi in Kerala and all ports on arrival.”
All Deputy Collectors Block Development Officers are directed to ensure strict enforcement of COVID-19 appropriate behaviour in all islands at all times, it said.
Non-compliance will be viewed seriously by the authority and appropriate penal actions shall be taken as per the relevant sections of the Disaster Management Act-2005 and Indian Penal Code, the order added.
