Kyrgyzstan detects Influenza A H3N2

Laboratory test results showed several patients in the city were influenza A H3N2 positive, the Disease Prevention and State Sanitary and Epidemiological Supervision Department of the ministry said.

Bishkek: Kyrgyzstan’s Health Ministry reported on Tuesday that it has detected cases of Influenza A H3N2 in Osh city in the south of the Central Asian country.
Laboratory test results showed several patients in the city were influenza A H3N2 positive, the Disease Prevention and State Sanitary and Epidemiological Supervision Department of the ministry said.
The disease is seasonal and is registered annually in the country, the ministry added.
Laboratory results have detected acute respiratory viral infections in the country, including parainfluenza, bocavirus, respiratory syncytial virus, seasonal coronavirus, adenovirus and metapneumovirus, but the epidemiological situation in Bishkek is stable.
Over the past week, 5,737 acute respiratory viral infections and flu cases were registered in Kyrgyzstan. Among the ill, 67.2 percent are children under 14 years old, totalling 3,858 cases.
