Journalists from Manipur and Nagaland attend Defence Correspondents Course 2024

Imphal: Lt Gen MV Suchindra Kumar, Army Commander, Northern Command felicitated 34 journalists of Defence Correspondents Course (DCC-2024) at HQ Northern Command in Udhampur on Sunday. The course has been organized by Directorate of Public Relations, Ministry of Defence as an annual training activity for the journalists.

The DCC-2024 congregated at Karwar on August 19, 2024, for a week-long Navy module followed by the Airforce module at Sulur Airforce Station, Tamilnadu and reached Jammu on September 1,  2024, for the Army leg.

During the course the 34 selected journalists, representing different parts of the country and variety of mediums, had an opportunity to interact with the senior officers, visited defence establisments and understood the organisation and operational responsibilities.

During the validictory event the Army Commander awarded the course certificates to all the participants and emphasized upon the positive and factual reporting on defence matters.  

In his address, the Army Commander emphasised the budding Defence journalists on sensible reporting on operations and reports on Bravehearts. He also emphasized on the National Security aspects while reporting stories on defence activities. The Army Commander also stressed the important role of journalists in the Nation Building.  

Speaking on the occasion, he said that “the aim of the course was to get journalists from all over the country to give an overview of the functioning of the three wings of the Armed Forces, according to a press note from the PRO (Defence), Manipur, Nagaland and Southern Arunachal Pradesh.
