Jalandhar: Five members of a family, including three children, succumbed to injuries after they were caught in the fire that broke into the house in Avtar Nagar colony near Nakodar Chowk in the district late Sunday night.
The dead have been identified as Yash Pal (65), Ruchi (39) daughter-in-law, Akshay (8) grandson, Diya (10), and Mansha (15) both grand daughters.
Inder Pal Ghai, son of the deceased Yash Pal, sustained serious injuries.
The neighbors told the police that they heard a blast-like sound, following which they rushed to the house of the deceased Yash Pal, who was also a senior leader of the BJP. They also immediately informed the police and the fire brigade.
